A Guide To The Hardest Fitting A Bath Waste

Your plug, also known as waste, is the most important component of any bath. It doesn't matter how beautiful your bath design is, it won't be fun if it doesn’t drain properly. We can help you with the steps to replace your old bath waste. Let's get started.

What you will need:

What is a "bath waste"?

Two parts are usually found in a bath waste. The first part is where the plug goes - it's used to drain away the water once you're done. The overflow is the second section. It is a pipe that, as the name implies, drains excess water from the bath if it fills up excessively, preventing it from leaking over the top.

How to install a waste in a bathtub

Are you ready to get started? This step-by-step guide will show you how to remove old bath waste and install your new one in no time.

Step 1: Get rid of your old bath waste

It is best to take out the drain fitting from your bathtub's bottom. There are many styles of fittings available, so it is possible to need to remove your drain cover first.

Once you have done that, locate the screw at the center of the waste cover with your screwdriver and remove it. This should allow you to remove the outer waste from your bath.

Step 2: Disconnect your excess

The plug in your bathtub is not the only thing that needs to be removed. Your waste overflow pipe also has to be taken out. Take off the top plate, and remove all screws. Then take off the cover plate. Once you have removed the cover plate, you can now remove the overflow pipe. This runs from the bottom of the bath to the overflow.

Although it sounds difficult, you only need to loosen the connectors at each end. These should be held in place by nuts. A spanner is all that's needed. After they are loosen, you can remove the pipe from both ends.

Top Tip: Sometimes, your waste pipes might have been soldered or glued in. In these cases, they may need to be cut free from the bath.

Step 3: Reattach your pipes

Next, you will need to install your new overflow and bath waste system. Make sure to take everything out of the box. Spread it out so you have everything you need. It's hard to figure out how to fit a new bathtub waste if there are missing pieces!

Once you are sure everything is in place, connect your plastic pipe at one end to your new bath wastes.

Step 4: Dispose of your bath's waste

Push one end of the waste pipe towards the outside and connect it with the tailpiece underneath. Once the waste pipe is connected, you can place the new cover inside the bath.

Your other end of the pipe should be connected to the bath's overflow hole. This can either be screwed into the top of the bath or through a waste cover, depending on your bath design.

Now is the time to make sure it's waterproof. If the bath holds water and drains quickly, you are good to go.

Top Tip: Before you close the door on a pop-up bath waste, ensure that both sides of the twist mechanism are workin
